Alemany Universe
Five Generations Of Honey And Nougat
In the town of Os de Balaguer (la Noguera), under the gaze of Montsec and its exceptional sky, Torrons and Mel Alemany have built a universe of sweets. For five generations, the Alemany family has been making artisanal nougat and selecting honey from the best beekeepers.
The history of Turrones and Mel Alemany begins at the end of the 19th century, when Dª. Mundeta made a candy with honey and local nuts. Given that Montsec is a rough and difficult terrain for farming, this activity was a good alternative for them.
The differential feature of German nougat is due to a 19th century recipe that gives the paste a characteristic white color. Slow cooking, local nuts and highly selected rosemary honey are part of a secret that gives nougat a particular taste.
Alemán has specialized in monofloral honeys , which are collected from beekeepers throughout the country. Innovation in Alemán brings the concept of honey with added value, in its line of gourmet honey .
Alemán’s nougat and honey have been recognized with the Great Taste Awards on different occasions, an award considered the Oscar of the world of delicatessen food.
